Quick note

We've already made the changes requested by Hasbro. Everything here, including the demo, reflects the new version of the game. No one is getting a design change or personality makeover. We've never said anything like that.

I've been getting this question so often, I decided to post the answer here on the main site.

  3. With everything going on right now, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to hit you guys up on familiarity to their product and the way you are portraying the characters.
I know that names are under copyright, but I keep hearing rumblings about “Art Style” that have me worried about similar looking products to that of the show and others. I don’t know whether a person/company can patent a particular design characteristic of what they are creating, I always thought it was more along the lines of a “Character Design” which would include the specifics for the product they are creating.

I can see a hell of a lot of cross contamination if the former is true, because as artists usually take inspiration from other works, they would then be subject to the same laws against them, that they are violating copyright of someone else’s design. The Latter allows leeway for artists to take a specific characteristic of something they’ve seen (i.e. the typical Madonna and child image and pose) and used that idea to craft something different and original.
As a final note, is the title of the VN going to have to change, are “they” going to hit you on that as well?

    1. We can only take things as they come. No reason to worry about them all the time.

And no. The name isn't changing.

    1. What are you talking about. How can a name be out of character?
